Chennai: A 24 yr old woman S Swathi employee of Infosys was hacked to death by an unidentified man at Nungambakkam railway station on Friday Morning. S Swathi was on her way of daily routine to work at Mahindra Tech Park office near Maraimalai Nagar, about 60 km south of Chennai.
As Swathi waiting to board a train on Platform 2, Sources at the railway station said a man carrying a backpack approached her. After Two Minutes of arguments, the attacker attacked her with a Sharp Weapon on her Neck & Face and hacked her to death.
The Nungambakkam station platform has no CCTV cameras, but Video footage that investigators picked up from a house outside the railway station showed the man crossing Sowrashtra Nagar in hurry.
Superintendent of police, Chennai GRP, P Vijayakumar said,
“We have obtained certain clues and are confident of nabbing the killer soon.”
In a statement, Infosys said:
“We are saddened by the unfortunate incident that has led to the demise of our employee in Chennai. We are working with local authorities as they investigate the matter and will continue to provide cooperation and support. Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with the family of the deceased. Infosys will provide all necessary support to the family in the hour of grief.”
